Spring Update # 1
As many of you know, from your experiences, becoming new parents changes your life in dramatic ways. As we are now six months into this new chapter of our lives, Ana & I continue to be so thankful for our daughter Naomi. Watching her grow and learn new things daily is amazing.
Thank you, dear friends, for your continued prayers and support. I have not done an adequate job of communicating & keeping all of you up to date, through these past few months. Thank you for your patience & grace.
The first quarter of 2008 has been a real full one, for us. Here are a few of the highlights:
I had the privilege of once again, traveling to Washington DC, for the National Prayer Breakfast. This was the third year that I have had the privilege of helping to serve a dear friend who is working with leaders from Latin America. I always walk away inspired by the lives of men & women working for peace & justice, in the name & spirit of Jesus.
I was especially touched by the lives of two men. One a pastor from Colombia, and the other, a Palestinian-Arab-Christian peace activist from the Middle East. Both having lived incredibly difficult lives, yet their passion to love their enemies (as we are instructed to do, by Jesus of Nazareth), is awe-inspiring!
Ana, Naomi & I went on our first road trip as a family. This was also their first real trip into the US (we did make two day-trips to San Diego in Jan), as we visited Churches, Friends & Family in Nevada & California. Ana especially enjoyed the scenery in the Lake Tahoe area (lots of snow) and the Sierra Nevada Foothills. We loved being with my sisters & their families, the Peterson’s in Roseville (along with all our friends @ VSPC), my parents & a wonderful gathering of friends in Bakersfield, and finally with dear friends (the Snyder’s) in Laguna Niguel.
Naomi was a real trooper, as we drove 1,100 miles the first two days!
Upon our return to Ensenada, the spring season kicked into gear & continues until the 12th of April. [21 teams & 27 houses]
Grace be with you, Scott Wester
Stay tuned for part 2 (an update on our lives @ the EOC)
