Ministry Report

How amazing it is to look back a year or two and see the road traveled, and God’s presence throughout the journey.

This past summer I was humbled to hear a number of friends comment on how our prayers of two & three years ago are being answered. Not prayers for things. Not prayers for us. But Prayers of seeing a transformation of a ministry for the Glory of God’s Kingdom!

Last fall, as Ana & I accepted the role of leading a team in Ensenada, we were certain that if we gave everything to Jesus, followed his teachings and were in relationship with him as the center of our lives & ministry; we could not fail!

I had a decision to make. To use an illustration: If we, as a ministry are a ship, which role on the ship would I fill? Would I be the Captain? As the Director, the natural thought is to drive, right? But for a few years I had been serving on the ship, alongside other crew and passengers; and I had determined that we needed a better ship. My job wasn’t to be the Captain; my job is to be the architect. To build a ship that will suit the voyages & missions it is sent on. To build a crew to properly operate the ship as well as provide hospitality to its passengers. And finally, to build a ship that is a credit to the flag it flies.

Our ship is a missional ship. Our crew is a missionary crew. Our passengers are mission teams as well as stranded castaways. Our flag is the Kingdom of God. And we are on a voyage of transformation!

I share this illustration to demonstrate how we are learning and growing in Jesus. See, I always wanted to be the Captain; the suit, the presence, the authority, the power, the recognition etc. For me, becoming the architect is not in my nature. Although it is something I am gifted to do. But my ego enjoys being the Captain. However I have realized that I don’t want to be the Captain of a sinking ship! And more importantly, I do not best serve the Kingdom as a captain! I can best serve by building a ship that not only floats, but also accomplishes the Kingdom’s mission!

We see fruit of this transformation, and we humbly ask you for your prayers as we embark on the voyage of Parenthood, as well as our continued work in Mexico; that we would grow in knowledge and be able to discern the best way, to build the ship!

Thank you for your friendship, love, prayers & support,

Ana, Scott & Naomi Wester
