Video from this summer @ the EOC

In my role as Director of YUGO's Ensenada Outreach Center; I have the privilege of being a part of an incredible team of volunteer staff from the US & Canada, as well as a team of dedicated national staff from Mexico. Together we hosted forty teams (1,200 people) from 15 US states & Canada, over the course of twelve weeks. Enjoy this dedication day video from one of this summer's weeks; and for more videos, see the side bar!

Thoughts @ the Panteon [spanish for cemetary]

Aug 16th Ana & I took her family to the gravesite of her sister Ruth. (she was born Aug 16th 1975)
Ruth died on July 25th 2004 of diabetes. (a leading cause of death in Mexico & other developing countries)

I will never forget the night that Ruth died. It was late and a few of us from the camp drove over to the hospital after I finished speaking. At first I was surprised at the size of the crowd that had gathered; secondly I was surprised at the mood! The only word I could think of was an intense peace!

Later that night relatives from out of town started arriving at the camp (YUGO EOC). It was after midnight as one carload of relatives pulled up. I led them to the room where the family were staying, quietly opened the door (not wanting to disturb the family) only to discover the family fervently praying & praising God!

I will always remember Ruth's funeral (the following day - my first in Mexico). I think it was similar to the wish my mom had for hers. A celebration of LIFE! I remember seeing Ana & her mom Carmen dancing in the front of the church, celebrating in the knowledge of Ruth being in the presence of Jesus.

Just as we wiped clean Ruth's gravestone, Jesus has done the same for us!

Update on Ana's Pregnancy

Ana and an Ultrasound @ 32 weeks [can you see the head, chest & hand?]

Ana is just over seven months pregnant. She has still been helping in the kitchen at the outreach center daily (WOW what a trooper!)

We have been going to an obstetrician in a private hospital in Ensenada. At this time we are preparing to have the baby in Mexico, since Ana will not be eligible for a visa appointment until after the baby is born.

Please pray for all aspects of the birth, finances for the private hospital ($1,500 - $3,000 depending on natural birth or C-section), and favor at her next VISA appointment (Oct 22nd)
